Old Onslow Interpretation

The town of Old Onslow in Western Australia’s Pilbara region was established as a European settlement in 1883. The town operated as a port on the Ashburton River for 40 years until silting forced the relocation of the town in the 1920s. Very little remains of the original town. Savagely Creative developed an interpretation plan for the site and engaged me to write text and source images for 21 locations in the ghost town. The interpretive panels related to the remnants of significant buildings such as the police station, the blacksmith’s and the store.

This project received a commendation in the 2018 WA Heritage Awards for an Interpretation Project.
