I had the pleasure of working with Rikki Clarke and the Creative Spaces team on the “Kaarak Nyitting: Our Journey Lights the Way” exhibition which displayed at the Curtin University Library in early 2025.
It was a retrospective exhibition about the past 13 years of research changing the way mental health and drug and alcohol services are delivered to Aboriginal people living in the Perth south-east metropolitan region.
As well as taking a look at the different principles in developing programs that have emerged from the research (guided through the exhibition by the Kaarak Red-tailed Black Cockatoo), the exhibition features quotes from Elders and Youth co-researchers. I learned so much from working on this exhibition.
**Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island viewers are respectfully advised that this exhibition contains images, voices and film of deceased persons.**
